DSWD Caraga to disburse P161.9–million for anti-poverty project

Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga is expected to disburse a total of Php161,968,531.62 in the first two quarters of this year through its anti-poverty program called KALAHI-CIDSS, it was learned Monday, January 16.

The total amount comes from the World Bank loan of the government given to the region amounting to Php137,280,487.93 and an additional Php24,688,043.69 from the local cash contribution (LCC) of the implementing local government units (LGUs).

According to Assistant Regional Director and Regional Project Manager, Mita G. Lim, the regional office will disburse this amount through tranches in the community accounts of the barangays.

Moreover, the total cash grant will be disbursed to a total of 136 sub-projects of the 15 partner LGUs throughout the region. Two (2) LGUs are implementing KALAHI-CIDSS Additional Financing while 13 LGUs are currently implementing the LGU-led Makamasang Tugon.

These areas are Veruela, Esperanza, La Paz, San Luis, and Sibagat in Agusan del Sur; Carmen and Jabonga in Agusan del Norte; Tagbina, Marihatag, Hinatuan, Bayabas, and San Miguel in Surigao del Sur; and Pilar and Socorro in Surigao del Norte.

After achieving a hundred percent fund disbursement last year, the regional project management office (RPMO) is hoping to do the same in the middle of the year. ### (Social Marketing Unit)

 

DSWD Caraga orients new hires of CDD projects

Butuan City – As part of its scale-up implementation this year, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga welcomed new staffs of community-driven development (CDD) projects in the region through an orientation last Jan. 13 at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort.

The participants – news staffs together with the renewed and returning staffs alike – were oriented about administrative concerns conducted by the Human Resource Management Unit (HRMU) and project policies and guidelines given by the Regional Project Management Office (RPMO).

With the 8-year successful implementation of the World Bank-funded flagship anti-poverty project of the government called KALAHI-CIDSS, other funding agencies also showed interest in funding other CDD projects.

DSWD Caraga is currently implementing four (4) CDD projects, namely: KALAHI-CIDSS, Makamasang Tugon (LGU-led), Poder 7 (Spanish aid), and PAMANA or Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Office of the President).

KALAHI-CIDSS Caraga is now becoming a bigger family with a staff comprising of 115 field staff workers and 30 office-based staff totaling to 145.

Deployment of these staff to 28 municipalities in the region is scheduled to commence on the third week of this month. ### (Social Marketing Unit)

 

DSWD Caraga bares KALAHI-CIDSS year-end gains

Butuan City – It has been a fruitful year for the government’s poverty alleviation project called KALAHI-CIDSS as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) presented its regional accomplishment for 2011 during the project’s yearend assessment activity.

We will end the year with a lot to be proud of in terms of achieving the targets set forth by the DSWD central office,” Assistant Regional Director and KC Regional Project Manager Mita G. Lim proudly said.

Lim pertained to the region’s accomplishment in fully utilizing the original loan agreement of the Philippine government to the World Bank or the financial accounts for KALAHI-CIDSS 1 and completing all social processes involved in the implementation of the project.

The Regional Project Management Office also boasted its feat in delivering a hundred percent in fund disbursement this year with the total project grant of Php 49, 961, 738.75 downloaded by the central office.

FO Caraga conducts LGU Forum on KALAHI-CIDSS

Butuan City – With nine (9) new municipalities in Caraga who will be implementing the government’s poverty alleviation project KALAHI-CIDSS for 2012, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently conducted a forum on the project’s modality for local government units, this city Dec. 13-15.

The LGU forum provided the participants with the operational framework, implementation process, and key requirements for enrolment to the project.

The municipalities of Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) and Kitcharao in Agusan del Norte; Lingig in Surigao del Sur; Alegria, Mainit, Tubod, Del Carmen, Sta. Monica, and Burgos in Surigao del Norte will be part of the new KALAHI-CIDSS area in the region.

DSWD Conducts Registration in New Pantawid Pamilya Areas

BUTUAN CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga conducted on December 3-23, 2011 the registration of potential beneficiaries in new Pantawid Pamilya areas namely: Nasipit, and Magallanes in Agusan del Sur and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur. These LGUs will implement the program in January 2012.

Based on the DSWD’s National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), Nasipit has 2,253 potential beneficiaries; Magallanes has 1,200 and Bislig City, 5,683.
