Surigao City- Thirty Seven (37) Local Government Units (LGU) across Caraga Region join the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga during the training on Comprehensive Intervention Against Gender-based Violence (CIAG-V) and Women Friendly Spaces last June 8-12, 2015 at Tavern Hotel, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
This five (5) day activity as participated by representatives from the DSWD-CO Protective Service Bureau, UNFPA, partner-LGUs and personnel from FO-Caraga aims to enhance the capacities of LGU social workers and other service providers in the provision of preventive strategies in the context of CIAG-V project.
The continuous mechanism installed by the country placed Philippines as the eight (8th) country out of the 1365 countries with the smallest gender gap based on the 2012 Global Gender Gap Report of the World Economic Forum.
The DSWD’s establishment of the CIAG-V project is timely and is contemplated to be one of the most effective strategies to eliminate if not to minimize GBV issues (###DSWDFOCaragaSocialMarketingUnit###).
