DSWD Caraga Field Office workers went out of their way to celebrated the 27th National Family Week on September 27, 2019 at La Vista Conchita, Ata-Atahon, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte with the theme “Tungo sa Maginhawa, Matatag, at Panatag na Pamilyang Pilipino” and a sub-theme “Kalusugang Pangkaisipan ng Pamilyang Pilipino.”

As per Presidential Proclamation No.60 dated September 18, 1992, the last week of September is declared as Filipino Family Week. With this, the Field Office is one with the nation in celebrating the festivity.

The activity’s goal is to unite families and employees and build a stronger bond among the workers, and their families. The activity opened with opening salvo, with participants enjoying a good round of Zumba exercise, followed by different activities, highlighting the importance of camaraderie and teamwork.

The Family Day celebration was successful in providing an opportunity to the Field Office staff and their families to bond and had fun with their co-workers from different departments and units. The staff also had an unwinding and distressing moment as they enjoyed the nature, the beach, and the sea breeze.

Assistant Regional Director for Operations Nerisa T. Murih, delivering the opening message on behalf of Regional Director Mita Chuchi G. Lim, emphasized the importance of strengthening the bond between family members. She stressed the importance of effective communication and honesty as vital components in a lasting relationship, and strong family ties.

The much needed time out for relaxation and enjoyment was effective in facilitating stress debriefing among the DSWD workers who have been busy for the past few days preparing for the different activities, including the weeklong Family Week celebration. It is also important to distress service providers who work directly with clients for them to be able to work effectively.

All in all, the one-day event was able to meet its objectives with everyone enjoying the different activities for the said activity. DSWD will continue to promote not just the welfare of Filipino families, but also the welfare of its workforce.#(DSWD Caraga/Social Marketing Section/Lovely Sheena Y. Soro)
