Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Provincial Coordinator for Surigao del Norte Jhunrey Betonio (1st person from L) hands over the key of responsibility to Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Arlyn Gabeligno and the San Juan Hugpong Multi-Sectoral Association.

Three associations in Alegria, Surigao del Norte received livelihood projects from the Department of Social Welfare Development on September 6 and 7, 2021. The said projects were funded under the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The members of the Poblacion Hugpong Multi-Sectoral Association (POHUMUSA), San Juan Hugpong Multi-Sectoral Association (SAJUMSA), and Ombong Hugpong Multi-Sectoral Association (OMHUMUSA) received a fishing and farm supply project, broom-making project, and general merchandise store, respectively. Each livelihood project has a total amount of PHP 450,000.

During the ceremony, POHUMUSA President Elsie Ubay expressed her gratitude to the DSWD-SLP and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alegria for expediting the realization of their livelihood projects.

Kami maningkamot gyud nga mulambo kini nga mga kinabuhian para matabangan ani ang pamilya sa mga miyembro sa mga asosasyon (I am grateful to the management of DSWD-SLP and LGU Alegria for facilitating the necessary process to grant us these projects. These projects will be a huge help to all of us. We’ll work hard for this livelihood to grow and help the association members’ families),” Ubay committed.

Further, Alegria Mayor Rene Esma also showed his appreciation to the Agency and reminded the SLP associations to properly utilize the livelihood grants and to always aim for success and sustainability.

“I give my heartfelt thanks to the DSWD for providing the people of Alegria with this kind of opportunity. To the associations, I encourage you to be mindful in managing the grants you have received. Be committed to aiming for your livelihood’s success and sustainability.”

The turn-over ceremonies kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and followed by a short program. The two-day activity was graced by Alegria Mayor Rene Esma, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Arlyn Gabeligno, and SLP Provincial Coordinator for Surigao del Norte Jhunrey Betonio.

They were joined by the barangay officials and members of the different associations.

A key of responsibility was also turned over to the officers of the Poblacion Hugpong Multi-Sectoral Association in light of their fishing and farm supply project.
