The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in collaboration with the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Federation Officers, led the 2-day PWD Regional Assembly at Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center last April 4-5, 2022.

During the 2-day activity, Ms. Miriam Acosta Llanos, League of PWD Federation President, shared an inspirational message and talked about best practices which other PWD Officers and Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) should adopt to strengthen their advocacies and organizations.

Llanos, together with DSWD Sectoral Head, Elsa A. Jamora, facilitated the open forum, where they discussed several issues and concerns involving the PWD sector.

PWD Officers from different parts of CARAGA joined in the strategic planning of different activities and programs for the PDAOs.

The group also conducted a Strategic Planning workshop, putting in place different activities regarding policy development, programs and services, capacity building, advocacy, and data management for PWD groups for the whole of Caraga Region.

Results of the workshop will then be finalized and has to go through some polishing in order to come up with a unified work plan to be used by the different PDAOs.

Before closing the said event, DSWD Regional Director, Ramel F. Jamen, led the induction of the newly elected officers. He was assisted by Protective Services Division Chief, Jessie Catherine B. Aranas.
