Ten (10) associations residing in conflict-vulnerable areas in the provinces of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur received livelihood projects from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga under the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

As part of the implementation of Executive Order 70, series of 2018, the Department and other national line agencies are called to provide assistance to former rebels and their families, as well as individuals and communities in conflict-affected or –vulnerable areas such as the provision of livelihood projects to associations.

Further, the provision of livelihood activities through the DSWD-SLP is anchored in the third line of effort, the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster.

Before the project turnover, the beneficiaries are given the opportunity to identify and propose a livelihood project which they deem fit in their community. After this, the project proposal is assessed and validated by DSWD-SLP to ensure its feasibility and sustainability.

Monitoring activities are also done after the provision of the project to ensure that these associations have been able to manage their livelihoods well. Moreover, the DSWD-SLP and the local government units can also provide technical assistance to the beneficiaries through these monitoring activities.
