In its ongoing commitment to strengthen community resilience to climate change, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga successfully conducted a Food-for-Work (FFW) activity for residents of Tubod, Surigao del Norte.

A total of 2,000 community members actively participated in the two-day activity, which involved canal de-clogging, clearing of critical access roads, riverbank and coastal clean-up, and minor repairs of drainage systems and footpaths in high-risk areas.
In exchange for their labor, each participant received family food packs (FFPs) containing 6 kilograms of vacuum-packed rice, 2 tins of sardines, 4 cans of tuna sardines, 4 tins of corned beef, 5 sachets of coffee, and 5 sachets of cereals.
The program not only provides immediate food support but also contributes to long-term climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness by improving local infrastructure and reducing environmental risks.
