Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Protective Services Division (PSD) Sectoral Unit, is facilitating a 3-day capacity-building cum midyear Kamustahan for Local Social Welfare and Development Officers and PWD Focal Persons on Disability Affairs and Inclusive Development from June 9 to 11, 2025.
The activity aimed to enhance the capacity of Local Social Welfare and Development (LSWDO) and Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) focal persons in terms of their respective roles in implementing, monitoring, and advocating for disability-inclusive programs and services for persons with disabilities, aligning with national and international thrusts and priorities.It also served as a platforn for participants to share status of implementation of the previously submitted re-entry action plan, clarify issues and concerns on the implementation of disability-related laws, programs and activities, and be informed on the disability initiatives and mandates from the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and other national agencies.
In her opening message, DSWD Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga extended her appreciation and thanks to the resource persons from national and regional agencies and to the participants for taking significant strides in advancing the rights and welfare of PWDs and other marginalized sectors.

The activity comprises different topics and sharing sessions, with three being tackled on the opening day: Orientation on Disability Laws, Disability Updates on NCDA programs, and knowledge sharing on the Basic Principles of Filipino Sign Language.
