The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), actively participated in the 2025 Regional Desktop Evaluation for the Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Seal and Special Awards in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance, held at Almont Inland Hotel Resort in Butuan City.

 

As a key member of the Regional Validation Committee (RVC), DSWD FO Caraga, reviewed and assessed the documentation submitted by participating local government units and stakeholders, to ensure alignment with the Gawad KALASAG criteria. Representing the office were DRMD Chief Aldie Mae Andoy and her team, who provided technical support and expert evaluation throughout the activity.

Gawad KALASAG is a prestigious national recognition program in the Philippines that honors individuals, volunteer groups, local and international non-government organizations (NGOs), donor agencies, and communities for their significant contributions to disaster risk reduction, humanitarian assistance, and resilience-building efforts.
