The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), had officially commenced the Cycle Year 2025 Feeding Implementation last June 23, 2025.
This initiative aimed to combat child undernutrition and support early childhood development by providing hot, nutritious meals to children enrolled in local government unit (LGU)-run Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNPs).
A total of 65 LGUs across the region had launched their feeding activities, reaching an impressive 55,588 child beneficiaries. These children are now receiving hot meals daily for 120 feeding days, ensuring they get the essential nutrients needed for their physical and cognitive growth.
These efforts aligned with the government’s commitment to upholding children’s right to proper nutrition, particularly during their most formative years. This program not only contributes to reducing malnutrition but also serves as a platform for promoting gender-responsive care and support systems, where mothers, fathers, and caregivers are encouraged to take active roles in sustaining their children’s health and learning.
As the SFP continues to roll out across the country, DSWD remains committed to working closely with LGUs, parents, and other partners to ensure no child is left behind in the journey toward a healthier, brighter future.
