A woman beneficiary of the Food-for-Work program smiles as she holds her Family Food Pack compensation.

To ensure that community efforts are appropriately compensated, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga distributed Family Food Packs (FFPs) to beneficiaries of the Food-for-Work (FFW) program in the provinces of Dinagat Islands (PDI) and Surigao del Sur (SDS).

A total of 4,110 beneficiaries received food assistance through this initiative. The distribution was conducted in the following municipalities:

Loreto, PDI – 1,294 beneficiaries

Libjo, PDI – 479 beneficiaries

Cagdianao, PDI – 400 beneficiaries

Lianga, SDS – 366 beneficiaries

Tago, SDS – 761 beneficiaries

San Agustin, SDS – 810 beneficiaries

The FFW program was carried out through the project sites of LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished). Beneficiaries contributed to the maintenance of community gardens and water reservoirs—projects that aim to enhance food and water security. In return for their labor, participants received Family Food Packs as a form of compensation.

A sweet smile lights up the FFW beneficiary’s face as he receives his food packs.

DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to strengthen its efforts in supporting disaster-vulnerable communities by delivering responsive programs and services that promote resilience and self-sufficiency.
