In observance of the National Disability Rights Week 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as Chair of the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA), led the conduct of an Orientation on Disability Sensitivity Awareness for its workforce on July 17, 2025.

The orientation, led by the Protective Services Division (PSD) Sectoral Unit, forms part of the agency’s continuing advocacy to build a more inclusive public service, starting within its own ranks.

PSD Chief Jessie Catherine B. Aranas emphasized that as “Angels in Red Vests,” DSWD staff must carry forward the agency’s mission of championing the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“As champions of the agency’s cause, it is essential that we are aware of our duties, not just as workers, but as advocates of an inclusive and barrier-free society,” she said.

The activity aims to deepen the understanding of DSWD staff on the diverse experiences of PWDs, ensuring that dignity, respect, and access to opportunities are consistently reflected in the agency’s programs and services.
