LIANGA, SURIGAO DEL SUR — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga and the Local Government Unit of Lianga have reinforced their partnership to improve the delivery of social welfare programs and services in the municipality.
In a courtesy meeting held on July 11, 2025, DSWD Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga met with newly elected Lianga Mayor Dr. Amado “Boy” Layno, Jr. to discuss the status of key social welfare programs being implemented in the locality. These include the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), and the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SocPen).
Both parties also discussed disaster preparedness and response mechanisms, with the LGU expressing the need for larger storage facilities for Food and Non-Food Items (FNI). The importance of regularizing staff under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) was also raised to ensure continuity and efficiency in service delivery.
This partnership supports the national government’s Bagong Pilipinas vision of building resilient communities through strengthened coordination between local governments and national agencies. DSWD Caraga and LGU Lianga committed to sustaining collaborative efforts to better address the needs of vulnerable sectors in the municipality.
