In response to the preparations for the latest Relief Prepositioning Agreement between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and pursuant to the directives of the Disaster Response Management Group led by Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe, the Regional Resource Operations Section (RROS) of DSWD Field Office Caraga mobilized its personnel to conduct coordination meetings with the PPA.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the RROS team met with the PPA–Port Management Office (PMO) Agusan del Norte in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. The meeting was attended by Port Services Division Manager Lemuel Ian Moralda and his team.
The following day, July 9, 2025, the team conducted a similar meeting with PPA–PMO Surigao, where they were welcomed by Port Manager Froilan Caturla.
The purpose of both coordination meetings was to prepare for the prepositioning of Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) packs, which will be stored at the PMOs and made available to individuals who may become stranded at the ports due to vessel travel cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances.
Under the Memorandum of Agreement signed between DSWD and PPA on June 25, 2025, in Manila, the DSWD will supply the RTEF packs, while the PPA will provide the necessary storage facilities. The meetings were held to assess the viability of storage and operational arrangements at both PMOs.
For the initial implementation of the project, DSWD Field Office Caraga has been allocated 7,000 RTEF packs, to be distributed between PMO Agusan del Norte and PMO Surigao.
