The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as chair of the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA), participated in the KAPIHAN sa PIA at SM City Butuan, July 21, 2025, at SM City Butuan.The event by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, gathered RCDA member-agencies to discuss the rights, welfare, and programs for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), in line with the celebration of the 2025 National Disability Rights Week (NDRW).
DSWD Caraga, through Protective Services Division (PSD) Chief Jessie Catherine Aranas, reinforced the Agency’s continued support for advocacies and the implementation of policies concerning PWDs. She also acknowledged the collective effort of RCDA member-agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs) in ensuring the protection and promotion of PWD rights.
Representatives from the Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Caraga, Civil Service Commission (CSC) Caraga, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga, and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) of LGU Cabadbaran City were also present.
Members of the media were invited to ask questions and engage with the panel to further amplify public awareness on disability rights and available services. A Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) was also present to interpret the entire forum for the benefit of deaf viewers watching online and live on-site.
The forum served as a platform to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and advocacy towards building a more inclusive, safe, and rights-based society for all.
