The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga reaffirmed its commitment to the national campaign against illegal drugs earlier today, in observance of the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT), also known as World Drug Day.Led by Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga, the DSWD workforce—comprising Assistant Regional Directors, Division Chiefs, and staff—participated in a symbolic pledge of commitment. The ceremony served as a reaffirmation of the agency’s commitment to promoting drug prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration in communities across the Caraga Region.
As co-chair of the Regional Inter-Agency Against Illegal Drugs Coordinating Group – Rehabilitation and Reintegration Cluster, DSWD Caraga plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by drug abuse. The Department continues to implement and support programs, such as the Yakap Bayan Program (YBP), that foster recovery and reintegration, in coordination with local stakeholders and service providers.
Aligned with this year’s global theme, “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention. Break the Cycle,” the activity highlighted the importance of evidence-based approaches and sustained collaboration in breaking the chain of drug dependency. It also echoed the call to address root causes such as poverty, trauma, peer pressure, and lack of access to mental health services, particularly among the youth and other vulnerable groups.
Through its renewed pledge and ongoing initiatives, DSWD Field Office Caraga remains steadfast in its mission to help build a drug-free society where recovery is possible and every individual is given the chance to heal, reintegrate, and thrive.
