The Home for Girls under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga capped off the celebration of Nutrition Month this July with a series of engaging, educational, and enjoyable activities aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and well-being among its residents.Throughout the month, the girls participated in hands-on cooking sessions where they prepared nutritious dishes such as hopia, mongo, ginataang gulay, pakbet, and other healthy meals. These activities were complemented by interactive lessons on the significance of proper nutrition, particularly the benefits of “Go, Grow, and Glow” foods in developing a healthier lifestyle.
Each week featured games and educational sessions that reinforced the importance of making informed food choices. The initiative not only honed the residents’ culinary skills but also deepened their understanding of health and nutrition in a fun and engaging way.
The month-long celebration culminated on July 25 with nutrition-themed games that fostered teamwork and camaraderie. As part of the festivities, staff members prepared meals that were judged by the residents, turning the day into a delightful and empowering experience for all.
To enrich the celebration, the Home for Girls also integrated informative sessions on Anti-Trafficking in Persons Month, Disaster Resilience Month, and PWD Awareness Week, providing residents with a broader understanding of social issues and personal safety.
The celebration reflected DSWD Caraga’s commitment to holistic development and care, ensuring that young girls under its protection not only learn vital life skills but also grow into informed, healthy, and empowered individuals.
