Liezel, also known as “Diday,” is a 33-year-old woman with an intellectual disability who was frequently seen begging in the Mangagoy area of Bislig City, particularly near Sheila’s Bakeshop. Her continued exposure to the streets and evident vulnerability prompted the DSWD Caraga Pag-abot Team to reach out to her during a joint reach-out operation with the City of Bislig conducted on May 27, 2025.

During the initial assessment, Liezel expressed a heartfelt desire to be reunited with her family in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. She specifically shared her longing to reconnect with her sister, as well as her nieces and nephews.

In response, DSWD Caraga facilitated her reintegration with her family. On June 30, 2025, Liezel was successfully returned to her home in Tagum City. The reintegration was carried out by the DSWD Caraga Regional Program Management Office (RPMO), in close coordination with the RPMO Davao Region and the City Social Welfare and Development Offices (CSWDO) of Bislig City and Tagum City. She was accompanied by RPMO staff and her assigned social worker from the CSWDO of Bislig City to ensure a safe and supportive transition back into her family. Liezel and the team received a warm welcome from the Pag-abot RPMO Field Office XI and the CSWDO of Tagum City.

This reintegration effort underscores the importance of coordinated interventions in restoring family ties and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
