To strengthen the implementation of the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act or R.A. 11861, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a series of virtual kumustahan with Local Social Welfare and Development Offices (LSWDOs), Solo Parent Focal Persons, and partner stakeholders, on April 2 and July 21, 2025.
The virtual engagement on April 2 served as an opportunity to reorient the LSWDOs and Solo Parent Focal Persons on the Solo Parent Database Reporting, the Summary Report for the Solo Parent Booklet Template, and the SPIC Control Number Format.
Themes and collateral for the National Solo Parent Week Celebration were cascaded during the virtual meeting. Moreover, sharing of updates and accomplishments from the LGU level, as well as giving advice on the upcoming Capacity Building Initiative for the implementation of R.A. 11861, or the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.
In another virtual kimustahan conducted on July 21 with partners and stakeholders, Solo Parent Regional Focal shared key updates and accomplishments on the implementation of the Solo Parent Program, gave an overview of the Solo Parent Monitoring System, and introduced the Spot-Check Monitoring Tool to strengthen LGU compliance with R.A. 11861 or the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.
In addition, the participants were also introduced to the Data Sharing Agreement and the SPIC Template to ensure smooth implementation across LGUs.
