The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as chair of the Regional Committee on the Welfare of Children (RCWC), spearheaded a Capacity Building on Strengthening the RC/SCWC on August 25-28, 2025 at VCDU Prince Hotel, Butuan City.
The activity gathered RCWC members in Caraga and aimed to enhance their capacity in providing technical assistance on Child Rights Frameworks: Commitments, Laws, and Policies on Children, Child Rights in Local Governance, Local Situational Analysis on Children, and the Four Legacies for Children to Local Councils for the Protection of Children (LCPCs). It also sought to update members on newly enacted child-related laws and frameworks, and to develop an Indicative Technical Assistance Plan for 2025–2026.
Resource persons from the Council for the Welfare of Children’s (CWC) Localization and Institutionalization Division – Maria Ruth Estrellieta L. Marayag, Andre R. Canilang, and Jingkie B. Ongan, served as speakers during the sessions.
The initiative is part of CWC’s nationwide effort to strengthen regional mechanisms toward building a “Child-Friendly Philippines: A Caring and Protective Society for, by, and with the Children.”
