The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Regional Program Management Office and the Provincial Operations Office of Surigao del Sur, conducted a workshop on August 29, 2025, at Shacene Pension House, Tandag City. The session formed part of the second day of the Provincial Consultation Dialogue with partners and stakeholders.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Hershe Nuñez, RSW, opened the activity by welcoming participants, including the local chief executives of Lanuza, Madrid, San Miguel, and Tago.
Governor Johnny Pimentel delivered the keynote address, where he highlighted the importance of partnership and convergence in addressing poverty. He stressed that DSWD plays a crucial role in directly assisting families and communities, making its support vital for inclusive development.
During the workshop, LGUs presented accomplishments and updates on their municipal action plans, including milestones and innovations in implementing the 4Ps. The outputs will be consolidated into a provincial action plan to align local and regional strategies.
Local chief executives expressed their commitment to continue supporting 4Ps beneficiaries through targeted interventions, resource allocation, and convergence efforts with DSWD. National government agencies also signified their support, including DepEd, DOLE, and TESDA, which presented initiatives on education, livelihood, and skills training for transitioning households.
The activity also featured testimony from Mrs. Lilibeth Tambasacan, a Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya representative, who shared how 4Ps helped her family overcome challenges in education, health, and livelihood.
The event underscored the importance of sustained partnerships among LGUs, NGAs, and communities to ensure that 4Ps households successfully transition and remain resilient beyond the program.
