In celebration of the National Disability Rights Week, over 10,000 participants gathered for the inclusive fun run titled “MILO Marathon x PSC’s Walk, Run, and Roll”, a collaborative initiative led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), in partnership with MILO Philippines, RunRio, and the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA).

This event was specially designed to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs), celebrate their abilities, and promote access and inclusion in public sporting events. With designated 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM routes, the fun run provided a safe and supportive environment for participants of all abilities. However, the 10KM route was not accessible to wheelchair users due to safety considerations.

More than 1,000 PWD participants were targeted to take part in the run, alongside running enthusiasts and disability rights advocates from across the region. The event also emphasized community engagement and awareness, aiming to break barriers and foster a more inclusive society.

Participants were reminded of event guidelines, including restrictions on non-assistive equipment such as bicycles, baby strollers, roller skates, and animals, except certified service dogs and approved electric scooters. Non-compliance with these rules could lead to disqualification.

The Walk, Run, and Roll fun run stood as a testament to the country’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, equal opportunity, and the empowerment of every Filipino, regardless of physical ability.
