The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga headed by Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, along with Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes and Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) Caraga Regional Program Coordinator Jovy Dela Cruz, participated in the TBTP National Culminating Activity on September 15, 2025 in Taguig City.
The activity was graced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and attended by DSWD officials, including Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Undersecretary for Innovations and Program Development Edu Punay, Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, and other key government officials and TBTP beneficiaries.
President Marcos underscored the government’s commitment to investing in education and social protection programs that directly uplift the lives of Filipino learners and their families. Secretary Gatchalian and Secretary Angara likewise highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening initiatives that promote literacy, community engagement, and youth development.
The culminating activity showcased the achievements of TBTP since its implementation, emphasizing how it provided learning support to children while offering college student-tutors and Youth Development Workers (YDWs) a meaningful opportunity to earn allowances and gain valuable community service experience.
Testimonies, success stories, and other accomplishments from different regions, including Caraga, reflected the program’s impact on both learners and tutors, as well as its contribution to community empowerment.
