The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, as the chair of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Filipino Families (RIAC-FF), concluded the National Filipino Family Week celebration with a coastal clean-up drive in Tagcatong, Carmen, Agusan del Norte on September 27, 2025.The activity underscored the vital role of families not only as the foundation of society but also as stewards of the environment. By working together to clear the shoreline of waste, the participants highlighted how simple, collective actions can make a lasting impact on communities and future generations of families.
As Filipino families face the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, the event served as a reminder that protecting the environment begins at home and within the family. It called on every household to practice responsibility, discipline, and care for nature as an extension of caring for one another.
Let us continue the spirit of Family Week by nurturing not only our households but also the environment we live in—because a clean, safe, and healthy community is the greatest legacy we can pass on to the next generation.
