The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted the 2025 Training of Trainers on Enhanced Population Awareness and Family Life Orientation (EPAFLO) on September 16–18 at Almont City Hotel, Butuan City. The training gathered officers of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) from across the region to strengthen their knowledge and skills on population awareness, family life education, personality enhancement, and positive lifestyle. Participants are expected to re-echo their learnings to out-of-school youth and other disadvantaged groups in their respective communities.
DSWD implements EPAFLO under the Unlad Kabataan Program through PYAP, which serves as a platform for youth development in cities, municipalities, and barangays with a high concentration of out-of-school and marginalized young people. The program aims to empower them to become self-reliant, economically productive, and socially responsible individuals.
Through this initiative, the DSWD envisions stronger PYAP leadership in Caraga that can advocate for the welfare of peers, contribute to family and community development, and promote a more inclusive society.
