BUTUAN CITY – Upholding the principle of “No One Left Behind,” the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga has extended immediate assistance to 177 families in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, following the magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck Davao Oriental and was strongly felt across the Caraga Region.
Local officials reported that the beneficiary families preemptively evacuated at the height of the tremor to ensure their safety, as Hinatuan was among the municipalities that experienced intense shaking.

DSWD Caraga promptly coordinated with the municipal government and partner agencies for the immediate delivery of family food packs (FFPs) to support for the displaced households.
In line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Field Office reaffirmed its commitment to stand with affected communities and ensure that families in evacuation centers receive timely relief, particularly to prevent hunger and protect the most vulnerable sectors.
The agency assured Caraganons that response teams and resources remain ready for augmentation should additional needs arise as monitoring continues in all areas of responsibility.
