In line with the celebration of the National Elderly Filipino Week 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, together with senior citizens and youth volunteers, joined the Care for the Environment: Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Drive held at Isla Noah, Barangay Lumbocan, Butuan City.

The activity was hosted by the Butuan City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) through the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and gathered participants from the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP), Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), OSCA Butuan, Butuan Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP), Barangay Lumbocan officials, and the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).

A total of 100 mangrove seedlings were planted during the event, which also included a coastal clean-up to promote environmental protection and community involvement among older persons and the youth.

Through its continuous support to activities that foster active aging, the DSWD Field Office Caraga reaffirms its commitment to promoting the welfare of senior citizens—not only through social protection programs but also by encouraging their participation in community-driven efforts that uphold health, dignity, and purpose in later life.
