The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Pag-abot Program, in partnership with the Butuan City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), conducted a reach-out operation on the evening of Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Butuan City.

Most of those reached during the operation were children found wandering or living on the streets. They were provided with appropriate assistance and were escorted by the reach-out team to ensure their safety and facilitate their immediate return to their respective homes.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) was also present to provide security and coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the operation.

It can be recalled that the Pag-abot Program also carried out similar reach-out operations in Surigao City and Cabadbaran City last month. These activities helped identify and assist individuals in street situations, and the program will continue to implement similar operations in other areas of the region.

At present, a total of 109 individuals and families in street situations have been successfully reunited with their respective families in various parts of the country through the Pag-abot Program Caraga. This includes 71 individuals directly reached by the team within the region.

The Pag-abot Program is a DSWD initiative that provides interventions for individuals and families in street situations. It aims to help them leave life on the streets and start anew through programs that strengthen their safety and livelihood opportunities.
