Project LAWA at BINHI in Caraga Continues to Thrive!

Partner-beneficiaries from the Malpoc Aquaculture and Upland Farmers Association (MAUGA) in Malpoc, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte recently harvested a total of 250 kilos of tilapia through their LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) project.
Partner-beneficiaries work together to sort and sell the tilapia harvested through Project LAWA at BINHI.
Most of the freshly harvested tilapia were sold to local fish vendors, while a portion was shared among the members and served as meals in celebration of the harvest.
Project LAWA at BINHI is one of the poverty-alleviation programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga. The project empowers disaster-vulnerable communities to make sustainable use of available water resources for food production, ultimately addressing both food and water insecurity.

Through capacity building and community organizing, Project LAWA at BINHI promotes local solutions to food and water insecurity, enabling families to produce nutritious harvests even amid climate and disaster risks. DSWD Caraga reiterated its commitment to expand and strengthen the project so more associations across the region can benefit from similar aquaculture and agricultural endeavors.
