A total of 350 children from GESU Eucharistico Children’s Inc. in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, and Gacub Elementary School in Carmen, Surigao del Sur, received learning kits as part of the celebration of National Children’s Month. The distribution was conducted by the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga on November 11–12, 2025.
The beneficiaries are part of Project Bahandi: Residential Facilities, an initiative launched by DSWD Caraga to provide a safe and nurturing home for children in need of special protection, including those who have been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
Each learning kit contained paper, pencils, erasers, crayons, and sharpeners to support the children in their school activities. The activity aimed to help improve the children’s knowledge and love for learning, especially in areas with limited access to basic educational supplies.
The distribution of learning kits is part of DSWD Caraga’s broader initiative to support learners in the region through programs that address literacy, family engagement, and holistic child development. Through these activities, the agency strengthens its partnership with local government units and schools to expand the implementation of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program across various parts of the region.
