The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, led by Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, welcomed Madrid, Surigao del Sur Mayor Juan Paolo Lopez today for a coordination meeting on the TARA! BASA Tutoring Program (TBTP) on November 6, 2025.
Mayor Lopez personally visited the Field Office to make clarifications and formalize the municipality’s intent to be an expansion area of the program, which aims to enhance literacy among struggling learners through community-based tutoring sessions.
Dir. Dollaga commended the LGU’s proactive initiative and emphasized the importance of local collaboration to ensure the program’s successful implementation, especially in reaching children who need additional learning support.
Mayor Lopez affirmed the LGU’s full commitment, stressing that education and child development remain key priorities under his administration.
Also present during the said meeting is Assistant Regional Director Jean Paul Parajes, Regional Coordinator from the TBTP National Program Management Office Ms. Serina Marie Dola, and Field Office Caraga Regional Program Coordinator Ms. Jovy Dela Cruz.
The TARA! BASA Tutoring Program is one of DSWD’s key initiatives under the Marcos administration’s thrust to strengthen human capital development and promote inclusive learning opportunities across communities.
