Even in the farthest corners of the sea, compassion finds its way.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its SWAD Satellite Office and the 4Ps Provincial Operations Office (POO) in the Province of Dinagat Islands, extended immediate financial assistance to the families of the two casualties of Typhoon Tino in Loreto, Province of Dinagat Islands.
Each bereaved family received ₱10,000 under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, which provides financial aid to individuals and families affected by crises and emergencies.
The joint team, headed by SWAD Team Leader Mark Louie Gaputan, RSW, personally visited the families to deliver the cash aid and convey the Department’s condolences.
One of the casualties was from Gibusong Island, a geographically isolated area and one of the farthest islands of Loreto, while the other was from mainland Loreto, also the farthest municipality in the province. The team likewise extended psychosocial support to both families during the visit.
Through this intervention, DSWD Field Office Caraga reaffirms its commitment to extend timely assistance and compassionate service to families in crisis, ensuring that even those in the most remote and hard-to-reach areas are not left behind in times of loss and disaster.
