The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Butuan City and A. Jamora Optical Clinic, conducted a free eye check-up at Alviola Integrated School, West Integrated School, Jose R. Magno Elementary School, and Taguibo Elementary School on November 11–12, 2025, as part of the celebration of National Children’s Month.
A total of 22 TBTP parents and guardians, and 38 learners benefited from the free eye check-up. They underwent vision screening to identify eye conditions and receive appropriate recommendations for care and treatment.
The activity aimed to identify parents and students with vision problems so that proper guidance or treatment could be provided promptly. This initiative is also part of the program’s effort to ensure that TBTP participants are in good health to support their learning.
In addition to the screening, A. Jamora Optical Clinic provided information on proper eye care and ways to prevent common eye problems.
After the check-up, the students also received learning kits as additional support for their education.
