The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, together with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of General Luna and the Butuan City Social Welfare and Development Department, conducted the second phase of the Parent Effectiveness Service (PES) in General Luna, Siargao Island, and Butuan City on November 26–28, 2025.
Resource speakers from the TBTP Caraga Regional Program Management Office, General Luna MSWDO, and Butuan CSWDD clearly discussed practical guidance on using positive discipline, fostering empathy, and promoting open communication—steps that help build harmonious, calm, and meaningful relationships within the family.
Approximately 372 TBTP parents and guardians attended the sessions. According to them, the activities helped them become more patient, understanding, and proactive in responding to the needs of their children. They also valued the opportunity to share experiences and discover concrete solutions to common parenting challenges.
The PES is an initiative of TBTP aimed at strengthening parents’ capacity to nurture the emotional and educational development of their children. It emphasizes the crucial role of parents in creating a supportive home environment that fosters positive values in children.
