An ongoing discussion to ensure the effective implementation of the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
With the shared goal of delivering timely and compassionate assistance to disaster-affected families, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a virtual Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) Orientation for the local government units (LGUs) of the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) and designated paymasters on December 9, 2025.
The activity aimed to ensure that those on the ground are fully prepared to implement the ECT program smoothly and with care, so that much-needed support reaches families when they need it most. Participants were guided through the program’s purpose, processes, and safeguards by Maria Theresa Bas-Pardo, Project Development Officer IV from the DSWD Central Office, who emphasized the importance of clear understanding and coordination in serving affected communities.
The Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program provides immediate financial assistance to families impacted by disasters following the declaration of a state of calamity. After Typhoons Tino and Uwan brought severe damage to the Province of Dinagat Islands, a state of calamity was declared to allow faster access to emergency resources and to accelerate relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts for the affected communities.
True to its mandate, DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to intensify its efforts to stand with families during their most difficult times.
