The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga, in partnership with the Surigao City LGU, led the World AIDS Day 2025 observance at the Surigao City Cultural Center today, December 10, highlighting youth advocacy for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS.Ms. Anacelia Egnalig, RN of the Caraga Regional Hospital Wellness Center (CRHWC), discussed HIV 101 and current trends, while the CRHWC also provided free HIV testing during the activity, promoting early detection and responsible health-seeking behavior. A total of 165 students from senior high schools and colleges signed a pledge supporting awareness and protection of the rights of Persons Living with HIV/AIDS. 

Through such initiatives, DSWD reaffirms its mandate to promote social protection and health, especially for vulnerable populations, and to champion the rights and welfare of marginalized groups.
DSWD Caraga expressed gratitude to Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II and LSWDO Lenie Liray, RSW, JD, for their continued support and partnership in advancing HIV advocacy in Surigao City.
