Freshly harvested tilapia

Partner-beneficiaries of Project LAWA at BINHI in Barangay San Juan, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur have begun the gradual harvesting of tilapia, in line with the volume they can sustainably sell and consume.

To date, the group has harvested a total of 67 kilograms of fresh tilapia.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga welcomed this development as a concrete result of the combined efforts of the government and the community in strengthening food security.

Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) is a flagship initiative of the agency that aims to address food and water insecurity, particularly in communities most in need.
