The Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted simultaneous exploratory meetings with the local government units of Madrid and Cantilan in Surigao del Sur, and Del Carmen in Surigao del Norte on December 16, 2025.

The meetings were part of the preparations for the implementation of the program in the said municipalities next year.

During the discussions, the TBTP team presented the objectives and key components of the program, including the cash-for-work scheme for college students, youth career development initiatives, literacy interventions for children, and the active role of parents in supporting learning at home.

Meanwhile, the LGUs expressed positive responses and signified their readiness to further strengthen their partnership with DSWD Caraga.

The program is set to be implemented in the said municipalities next year and is expected to provide wider learning opportunities. This initiative is a significant step toward strengthening literacy levels in the region.
