A total of 257 Food-for-Work (FFW) beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga benefited from the two-day FFW implementation in Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands.
The FFW activity aims to sustain and maintain the LAWA at BINHI projects in the area, including the communal vegetable garden, aquaculture facilities, small farm reservoirs (SFRs), and water supply diversification initiatives. Maintenance activities included clearing and weeding of gardens and ponds, replanting, watering, and repairing SFR facilities, particularly those damaged by heavy rains brought about by typhoons.
As the FFW program is implemented, beneficiaries receive a family food pack in exchange for their work, while also helping to ensure the sustainability of the LAWA at BINHI projects in the area, a program that aims to address food and water insecurity in the community.
DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to implement and support programs that promote the welfare of the people, especially those living in disaster-prone areas.
