Following the intensification of Tropical Depression Ada into Tropical Storm Ada, which led to the suspension of sea travel in parts of the region and resulted in several stranded passengers in ports, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga distributed Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) to affected passengers at Surigao City ports.
A total of 160 stranded passengers received RTEF packs, with 128 from Lipata Port and 32 from Eva Macapagal Port.
RTEF serves as a convenient form of food assistance, as it requires no cooking and is immediately consumable. Each pack contains five cans of tuna paella, three packs of champorado, two packs of chicken arroz caldo, two high-protein bars, one sachet of complementary food, one can of chicken pastil, and one can of chicken giniling.
DSWD Field Office Caraga remains vigilant and ready to respond as the situation develops, assuring the public that no one is left behind. This initiative aligns with the mandate of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., guided by the policy direction of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and is actively implemented by the DSWD Field Office Caraga under the leadership of Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga.
