The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Crisis Intervention Section (CIS), extended vital assistance to 483,297 individuals across the region in 2025, releasing a total of ₱2.318 billion under its major social protection programs: the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), the Ayuda sa Kapos at Kita Program (AKAP), and services through Malasakit Centers.
The accomplishments reflect the government’s continued commitment to providing immediate and responsive support to individuals and families facing crisis situations, such as illness, death, displacement, and economic hardship.
Under the AICS program, which remains the primary safety net for individuals in crisis, DSWD Caraga assisted 380,625 clients, with a total amount of ₱1,929,031,114.33 released—equivalent to 256.21 percent of its annual target of 148,557. The assistance addressed various urgent needs, including medical, funeral, transportation, food, and cash relief support.
Meanwhile, the Ayuda sa Kapos at Kita Program (AKAP) provided temporary relief to 81,867 low-income individuals, particularly those affected by inflation and economic vulnerabilities. A total of ₱310,677,602.63 was distributed under the program to help beneficiaries cope with rising living costs.
Through the Malasakit Centers, which serve as a one-stop shop for medical and financial assistance to indigent and vulnerable patients, 20,805 clients were assisted in 2025, with support amounting to ₱79,002,207.09.
Of the total assistance released across the three programs, medical assistance accounted for the largest share, amounting to ₱1,149,520,973.65, followed by cash relief assistance totaling ₱976,380,154.08, and funeral assistance amounting to ₱183,279,285.13. Transportation assistance reached ₱3,033,175.06, food assistance ₱5,596,187.13, while educational assistance amounted to ₱901,150.00.
