A total of 6,203 families affected by Tropical Storm Basyang in the municipalities of Lanuza, Cortes, Madrid, Cagwait, Tandag, and San Miguel are set to receive cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga.

The Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT), activated once a state of calamity is declared, aims to help families recover and regain stability in the aftermath of the storm.

“Didto sa Mampi, grabe gyud ang baha makalilisang kaayo. Ang among kanijugan nahimong kabatuhan kay naanod ang mga bato tungod sa kadako sa tubig. Ang mga saging nangabanlas usab mao pa man unta to among pagkaon ug panginabuhian. Nakaagi na kami og bagjo kaniadto, pero dili ko singod kuman nga mas dako gyud ang kadaot. Nagpasalamat gyud ko sa DSWD. Dako kaayo kini nga tabang hangtod nga makabangon mi. (In Mampi, the flood was really severe, it was terrifying. Our coconut plantation were turned into rocky ground as the stones were carried away by the strong waters. Even the banana plants were washed away, and those were supposed to be our food and livelihood. We’ve experienced storms before, but I never thought the damage could be this great. I am truly grateful to DSWD. This assistance is a huge help until we can get back on our feet),”  Gloria Pabuhot said.

This initiative is in line with the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure timely and responsive assistance for disaster-affected families, particularly during challenging events like Tropical Storm Basyang.
