In support of the National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse (second week of February), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga Home for Girls continues to advance children’s rights through sustained advocacy and protective initiatives, reiterating that sexual abuse is never the victim’s fault—especially never a child’s.
Residents and staff took to the streets of Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City the advocacy to kick off the observation on February 3, 2026.
The agency calls on the public to speak up, report abuse, believe children, and hold perpetrators accountable to help create safer spaces for every child.
DSWD operates Homes for Girls (HFG) as residential care facilities that provide temporary shelter, protection, and rehabilitation for girls aged 7–18 who are victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of adversity. Through structured care, therapeutic activities, psychosocial counseling, and educational support, HFG aims to restore each child’s well-being and facilitate their safe reintegration into families and communities.
At present, the DSWD Field Office Caraga Home for Girls is providing care and support to 26 residents.
