The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga has started the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout for families affected by Tropical Storm Basyang in Surigao del Sur.
Today, February 25, 2026, a total of 302 beneficiaries received financial assistance. Families whose houses were severely damaged were granted Php 10,260, while those with partially damaged houses received Php 5,130.
The municipalities served today include Carrascal, Carmen, Cantilan, Barobo, Hinatuan, Marihatag, Tago, and Bayabas.
Tomorrow, the remaining municipalities that experienced severe effects from the storm are scheduled to receive their cash assistance.
The ECT is one of DSWD’s disaster response programs, activated once a State of Calamity is declared. This assistance is provided to families whose houses sustained slight to severe damage due to the disaster.
