The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga continues to expand the implementation of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program through the large-scale conduct of Program Orientation activities in Butuan City and Del Carmen, Siargao Island on February 26, 2026.

A total of 47 barangays from Butuan City and 19 barangays from Del Carmen participated in the orientation. The activity forms part of the extensive preparations for the scheduled implementation of the program this year, ensuring smooth coordination and strengthened collaboration with partner Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs).

During the discussions, the TBTP Team clearly explained the objectives and key components of the program, including the Cash-for-Work component for college student-tutors, initiatives on youth development and career readiness, literacy interventions aimed at improving the reading skills of young learners, and the important role of parents as partners in supporting learning within the home.

Meanwhile, barangay representatives strongly expressed their positive reception and full support for the initiative, emphasizing their readiness to further strengthen coordination with DSWD Caraga to ensure the efficient, organized, and successful implementation of the program in their communities.
