The beneficiaries experienced livelihood disruptions after Typhoons Tino and Uwan struck the province, causing significant damage to tourism boats, homestays, boat rentals, and other tourism-related sources of income.

“Our boat was damaged after it hit the rocks due to the strong waves. It needs to be replaced so that water will not leak in. When I learned that there was assistance, we were extremely happy and grateful because we did not expect it, but it truly came. This is the first time we have received this kind of assistance. This is part of our source of income,” said Emelinda Rasa, 61, from Tag-abaca, Basilisa, Province of Dinagat Islands.

Through the ECT program, each beneficiary received Php 10,137 in financial assistance to support their immediate needs and help them restart their livelihoods. The assistance forms part of DSWD’s continuing commitment to provide timely and responsive assistance to disaster-affected individuals and families.
