In preparation for the implementation of the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout in Surigao del Sur, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a virtual meeting.
Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, joined the meeting and warmly welcomed the participating local government units (LGUs), staff, and resource persons. She underscored the importance of ensuring that the assistance is delivered efficiently, transparently, and with compassion and dignity.
In coordination with the Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) of the DSWD Central Office, the meeting served as a venue to discuss the guidelines, implementation plans, and fund allocations for the ECT. This helped ensure that all concerned offices are aligned and guided in carrying out the program effectively.

The ECT is one of DSWD’s disaster response programs that provides immediate financial assistance to families affected by disasters once a state of calamity is declared. It can be recalled that the Province of Surigao del Sur declared a state of calamity following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Basyang, which affected thousands of families who are now working to rebuild and recover.
