The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (RIACAT-VAWC), conducted a one-day seminar titled “Protecting Dignity in Every Click: Basic Photography and Cyber Security Seminar for DSWD Personnel” on February 10, 2026.
The activity featured discussions on Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 by PCOL Lemuel Gonda, Chief of PNP RACU 13, and a session on basic photography conducted by John Charles Malazarte, Media Production Specialist of PIA Caraga.
The seminar was conducted in observance of Safer Internet Day 2026, with the local theme: “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado laban sa OSAEC at CSAEM.” The theme emphasizes the shared responsibility of safeguarding children and vulnerable sectors from online sexual abuse and exploitation, while promoting ethical and responsible digital practices.
By strengthening personnel capacity on responsible documentation, data privacy, and cyber security, the activity reinforced DSWD’s commitment to protecting dignity and ensuring safe digital spaces. In her message, Ms. Melanie G. Juan, RSW, Protective Services Division – Sectoral Unit Head, emphasized the importance of applying the learnings in daily operations.
DSWD Field Office Caraga calls on all personnel and partner agencies to uphold digital responsibility, remain vigilant against online threats, and actively advocate for child protection.
Together—Ako, Ikaw, Tayo—connected and protected against OSAEC and CSAEM.
