The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga commenced its 2026 payout for the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens from February 10- 20, 2026, covering beneficiaries in Butuan City and the municipalities of Bayabas (Surigao del Sur), San Luis (Agusan del Sur), and Sison (Surigao del Norte).
The payout covered qualified indigent senior citizens across 86 barangays in Butuan City. Meanwhile, Bayabas, San Luis, and Sison were the first local government units (LGUs) in Caraga to implement the payout this year through the Transfer of Funds (TOF) scheme.
Under the TOF scheme, LGUs receive and distribute the pension funds directly to beneficiaries, ensuring the release of Php 3,000.00 quarterly assistance.
A total of 17,561 beneficiaries in Butuan City received their social pension amounting to Php 52,683,000.00. In San Luis, Php 4,617,000.00 was disbursed to 1,539 beneficiaries; in Sison, Php 3,258,000.00 to 1,086 beneficiaries; and in Bayabas, Php 2,004,000.00 to 668 beneficiaries.
The payout activities were conducted in close coordination with the concerned LGUs, City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), Municipal/Local Social Welfare and Development Offices (M/LSWDO), Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), and barangay officials to ensure orderly and efficient distribution.
The Social Pension Program aims to augment the daily subsistence and medical needs of indigent senior citizens who are frail, sickly, persons with disabilities, or without regular source of income and family support. Through the timely release of assistance, DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to uphold its commitment to safeguard the welfare of senior citizens across the region.
