As the establishment of the Mindanao Disaster Resource Center (MDRC) Hub draws closer to reality, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in partnership with the City Government of Butuan, conducted a public consultation with landowners, tenants, caretakers, and barangay officials of Barangay Pinamanculan, Butuan City.
The consultation was a way to be transparent and make sure community members are well-informed about the project. It also gave stakeholders a chance to ask questions, share concerns, and share their perspectives about the upcoming facility.
During the activity, Division Chief Aldie Mae Andoy presented the overview of the MDRC Hub and highlighted how the facility will strengthen disaster preparedness and response not only for Butuan City but for the entire Mindanao region.
Present during the consultation were Special Assistant to the Secretary (SAS) for Field Office Special Programs Ramel Jamen, FO Caraga’s Legal Officer Atty. Bryan Rubio, and representatives from the City Government of Butuan, who assured the participants that all concerns raised by the community will be carefully addressed prior to the construction of the facility.
The consultation reaffirmed the commitment of DSWD and its partners to pursue inclusive, transparent, and community-centered development, ensuring that projects meant to serve the people are built with their voices heard.
